I’m listening to a news story on the radio about South Dakota’s new law which virtually ends a woman’s right to choose, while driving down Corridor G behind a big, black Escalade with a sticker on the left side of the bumper saying “Choosy Mothers Choose Life” and one on the right that says “Support Our president and Our Troops”. To all of you out there for whom the owner of this behemoth is representative, I ask, “What are you thinking?”.

If I had a 13-year-old daughter, for example, and some crack-head with AIDS were to beat and rape her, you would think it immoral for my daughter to terminate her pregnancy because you believe the cluster of disease-infected-drug-infested-spawn-of-violence cells is so precious that it must be preserved. But, if you feel your over-indulgent upper middle-class gas-guzzling morbidly obese white-bread lifestyle might possibly be compromised by some impotent Arab dictator half-way around the world, it is perfectly justifiable to obliterate an untold number of children in that far-away land in order to secure your comfort.

Even though I find abortion abhorrent, I realize that it is not my right to dictate my beliefs on such issues to others who might have overwhelming reasons for such a painful decision. Your mushy morals and lack of reason are disgusting. I don’t know what’s more pathetic: if you don’t realize how blatantly hypocritical you are, or if you do realize, and just don’t care.
